When designing a beer label, I first discuss the beer with Mike Schallau, owner and operator of Is/was Brewing. I use his notes and descriptions as inspiration when illustrating.  Within each label, I instill a sense of humor and give a voice to the characters depicted.  My goal is for the label, at times, to act as an art piece, a comic, or even an inspirational message.   

Chicago-based artist Joe Kraft works with a variety of materials.  He earned a BFA in Ceramics from Alfred University. Clay has led Joe down many artistic and professional paths, however, his love for drawing and printmaking is what currently drives his practice today.  "The beautiful part of working with different media," he says, "is that you never get bored".
