We’re raising a glass to Piece by Piece, a beer inspired by mentorship, collaboration, and community, and how real progress is made: piece by piece.

This release marks a milestone for Anthony Haynes, newly appointed head brewer at Piece Pizzeria & Brewery and a recent Michael James Jackson Foundation (MJF) scholarship recipient. After learning about the MJF at a Beer Culture Center event, Anthony applied, earned an award, and went on to complete his Master Brewers certification at the Siebel Institute in Chicago, the oldest brewing school in the nation. Piece by Piece is his first beer as head brewer and was crafted alongside the three other Chicago-based MJF awardees - Zack Day of Funkytown Brewery, Erin Lee of FEW Spirits, and Jacob Meza of Omega Yeast - making it an especially meaningful debut.

Brewed with fonio, an ancient African grain, and the John I. Haas custom MJF Hop Blend, the beer is a bright, hoppy 5.7% ABV lager with notes of tropical fruit, pineapple, and citrus, balanced by gentle sweetness and a crisp, dry finish.

Adding to the occasion, Garrett Oliver, MJF founder and Brewmaster at Brooklyn Brewery, will be in attendance—along with the entire MJF Board of Directors. This remarkable gathering brings together some of the most inspiring leaders and changemakers in beer for a night of celebration and connection.

We hope you join us in raising a glass of Piece by Piece, a beer built on community and brewed for progress. Brief remarks at 7:30pm.
