In 1933, Prohibition was on it’s way to being officially over in the United States. And on April 7th of that same year, Americans were legally able to drink 3.2% beer again thanks to the Cullen-Harrison Act.
Preparations for the celebration began well in advance. Parties were planned and, more importantly, beer was being made. So much excitement roared through the country that April 6th would come to be known as New Beer’s Eve while April 7th would go down in history as National Beer Day. People were ready. And they were ready to PARTY!
Join Brewseum Executive Director, Liz Garibay and Maureen Ogle, historian and author of Ambitious Brew for a conversation about the history and fanfare behind National Beer Day.
