Did the ancient Greeks drink beer? In this discussion, Travis Rupp explores the beer culture of the Bronze Age Aegean by analyzing archaeological evidence for brewing from 3000-1000 BCE. Examining ancient accounts from Homer to Erotian, Travis will also look at how ancient literature sheds light on the stigma against beer in the world of wine from the 8th century BCE to the 1st century CE. In the end, he will demonstrate that the Greeks knew more about beer than scholarship has indicated.
