The bar opens early so you can gather with us for the official release of the Old Town Ale House House Ale!

Founded in 1958, the Old Town Ale House has seen its fair share of patrons come and go. From the artists, musicians, and hippies who built a base for change during the 1960s and 70s to the actors, comedians, and entertainers who learned their trade at nearby Second City, the Ale House has been a precious pit stop. A favorite of the locals like Roger Ebert and George Wendt and later cherished by icons like Anthony Bourdain, the Ale House has proven – to many - that we all need a place where everybody knows our name.

A Chicago institution like the Ale House deserves its own beer and the time has come. We invite you to join us for the official release and debut of the Old Town Ale House House Ale, a delicious brew made by another local favorite, Dovetail Brewery.

Along with an honorary keg tapping, we will also be officially retiring the bar sign that hangs outside its front door. The ceremony will be ceremonious. And we shall raise a glass to all the regulars - past and present - who have given the bar its character and local flavor.

This event is free. First come, first served. The bar will open one hour early for this special celebration and as with all special occasions at the Ale House, light bites will be provided for the patrons. Pints of Ale House House Ale will be $2 off during this happiest of hours.
